Compost

Description

Compost or Posal is the same combination of animal and plant waste that is created through different processes and conditions. Composting is one of the oldest methods of recycling, where urban waste, sewage, sludge and other organic materials are decomposed and used as fertilizer in agriculture. This type of fertilizer is excellent in horticulture, agriculture, erosion control and soil improvement, wetland construction, landfill cover and is considered a natural pesticide. In addition to the quality, the amount and method of using compost and vermicompost is effective on vegetative growth and increasing the yield of agricultural products.

How to use compost in gardens

In order to have the best effect on the yield and quality of the product, compost should be placed near the roots. Compost fertilizer is usually used in fruit trees in two ways, chalk fertilizer and channel fertilizer.

Use of compost fertilizer by Chalkod method

In this method, depending on the age of the tree, dig two to six holes under the shade of the plant. Note that the holes should be dug in the last third of the shade plant. The depth of the holes dug in trees under 5 years should be at least 10 and at most 30 cm, and in trees over 5 years at least 20 and at most 40 cm. In the flooded system, the dug holes should be located exactly in the path of the irrigation water, and in the drip system, they should be located under the drippers.

Use of compost fertilizer by Kanel method

In this method, dig a channel 10 to 30 cm deep depending on the age of the tree and pour the recommended amount of compost into it. As with chalkud, the fertilizer channel should be created in the last third of the shade of the plant. The canals created should be placed in the path of irrigation water so that the compost fertilizer is absorbed by the plant roots along with the irrigation water. Note that the depth of the canal should be created according to the depth of root penetration so that the roots should not be seriously damaged during the digging of the canal.

The amount of compost used in agriculture

A large part of the compost fertilizers produced in Iran is consumed in the agriculture sector. Today, due to the destructive effects of chemical fertilizers on the soil, compost can be a suitable alternative for plant nutrition. In agricultural lands, 10 to 20 tons of compost are needed per hectare. This amount varies depending on the soil fertility, the type of plant, and the texture of the soil.

The amount of compost used in gardens

Compost fertilizer is suitable for all types of tropical and cold climate trees and most gardeners have realized the effectiveness of this type of fertilizers. The amount of compost fertilizer consumption is different based on the age of the tree, for each age of the tree two to three kilograms are recommended in the form of compost or channel fertilizer. For example, if your tree is 5 years old, it needs 5 to 15 kg of compost.

The amount of compost fertilizer used at the time of planting seedlings

At the time of planting seedlings, you can mix compost with soil and place it under the roots of the plant. To prepare the soil substrate at the time of planting, use 50 kg of compost for every cubic meter of soil to provide a suitable substrate for root growth. This will cause root development in the soil and increase moisture storage.
